Note: this option is only available in spring flower season, August/September.
Runs on solar power, no more loadshedding.
Two people can be accommodated during flower season in the original dwelling on Matjiesfontein ‘historic werf’ in an en-suite in the private home of the owners. The suite has its own private entrance on a stoep that runs the length of the house, encompassing a walled garden that has a pond fed by natural spring in front of it.
Part of the house dates from the late 1700’s, while the en-suite (bath only) guest bedroom, with two ¾ beds, and adjacent own-use lounge was built in the early 1800’s.
Wooden ceilings, sandstone floors, electric blankets and generously proportioned rooms and a slow burning wood stove in the lounge, make this venerable ‘old lady’ a pleasure to stay in.
As you have no kitchen facilities meals will be enjoyed at the lovely Farm kitchen at the main Papkuilsfontein farm (9km south from De Lande) with its wide views and cozy fireplace during winter.
