Here two people can be accommodated in season in the original historic dwelling on Matjiesfontein ‘werf’ in a suite in the private home of the owners. The suite has its own private entrance on a stoep that runs the length of the house, encompassing a walled garden that has a pond fed by natural spring in front of it
This important property consisting of sandstone and thatched buildings was finally completely restored in 2007. Part of the house dates from the late 1700’s, while the on-suite guest bedroom, with two ¾ beds, and adjacent own-use lounge was built in the early 1800’s.
Wooden ceilings, sandstone floors, wall heaters in both bed and bathroom and generously proportioned rooms make this venerable ‘old lady’ a pleasure to stay in.
Dinner and breakfast are served at nearby De Lande (1.5km away).
Guests are welcome to visit Papkuilsfontein main farm to explore further, walking or driving about the flower reserve. Detailed maps of the farm and trails and reference works on flora and fauna are provided.
